The No BullSh*t review of the iPhone

Aaaah – a refreshing read, this ! Gizmodo reviews the iPhone and attaches some conclusions.

For those of us who’ll have to wait till at least 2008 to get our grubby hands on it, we can only hope that by then the missing functionalities will have been added !

Tom is back home.

He’s back from the hospital, with an immobelised arm… but he’s very, very happy to be back home. So are we!

Not a runner. Yet.

I’ve just went running for the 26th time and when I came back and uploaded the data, the nikeplus website surprised me with a banner congratulating me with running the 100 kilometers – on to 250 !

Strange how I didn’t notice that since April I’ve run 100 kilometers !!! It’s incredible when I look back on it, but it’s really motivating (it’s slightly demotivating though when you look at the leaderboard and see the top 10 people have run each more than 4000 kilometers). I can feel like sh*te and be tired from a long day at work, but still want to go out and run, so I guess I can say (for now) : yes, I am addicted.

Nike has launched some new adverts – I like them all, especially the new mom and french Sofia, but this one tops them all (you need sound though !) :

Tom broke his arm

Yesterday Tom was in the care center that is organised by the school, for the second day. In the afternoon, while playing, he fell from a climbing ladder and one way or another broke his arm, just above the elbow; my guess from hearing him recount it and reading the report provided by the care center admin is that he was climbing the fitness ladder attached to the wall, and perhaps misjudged a step and fell while hanging on the ladder by one arm.

Dolores was first alerted around noon, after the care admin had already visited a doctor which asked them to go immediately to ’emergency’.

The pressure has snapped the upper arm bone just above the elbow; a nasty fracture apparently, which can’t be set simply in plaster; it needed to be set with metal splints via an operation- ouch. Plus they’ll need to be taken out again somewhere around september.

🙁

Tom has braved the operation and I saw him yesterday after he woke up again – he’s fine, and very, very brave, but his vacation will not be the carefree one we envisioned for him.

Still, I’m very happy he didn’t hurt his head or fracture a leg – at least with the arm, he’ll be able to move around and not be stuck to the sofa.

Running 5 km

Start 2 Run is working for me.

Yesterday I went for a run again, after a few days of rest. The run went smoothly, legs pumping away rythmically under me like they didn’t belong to me !  I had some spectacular views as the clouds were releasing their rain in veils south of me, while I was running under a blueish sky and north of me some thunderheads were going way up in the sky. One was so high it got illuminated by the sun.

The last 4 runs or so have all been over 5 km, with less and less rest inbetween the running periods. I’ve already run 3 times 10 minutes, and yesterday I ran 2 times 15 minutes.

What surprises me the most is that my breathing is under control – I recuperate fairly easily now from running, and my speed seems to be the correct one – sometimes it seems as if I can continue to run forever (only for a little while, but still, a nice feeling).

I just hope I don’t damage or sprain anything in knees or legs so that I can continue these lessons. Dolores has started the program as well, we run on alternate days of course.

Still not lost any weight though…

Sam goes Potty

Sam is 2 years old and counting, and since the last 2 weeks or so we are training him to go to the potty to do pipi and all that.

Until saturday it wasn’t working out to well – he just didn’t feel ‘it’ starting. He would look down with a surprised face when there is suddenly water pooling around his feet.  He even managed to do poo while not noticing it until afterward, and then being scared of it – which is logical, since wearing diapers he never saw it before…

That’s until we figured out a way to keep him on the potty – candy ! Every time he uses the potty, he gets a (small) candy. And that saterday he went two times, one time with us putting him on it, and once more all by himself in the afternoon !

I am SOooo proud of my little guy !!

Updated WordPress to 2.2 and YANT (yet another new theme)

I updated my WP installation to 2.2 and finally downloaded some more themes. We’ll see how long I suffer them, although this Cordobo Green Park theme seems very nice…

Still in beta of course.

Update 29/05 : the limegreen colour is really green though. Ugh. I’m already wanting to change the color scheme…
