Niet dat ik zoveel te zeggen heb uit geheime bron, maar ik vind het wel belangrijk genoeg om aan te halen : Het arbitragehof heeft het bronnengeheim uitgebreid naar Bloggers.

While most or almost all the files in the Windows directory on your PDA are in ROM, and thus not deletable, lots of applications *do* put stuff in there, going from .dll files to .log files. I found this out while looking through the files on my PDA that are stored in Windows directory.
Some of those you can even delete or move to another location without any problems :
For example :
– For those of you with iPaqs, Credant technologies (the people behind the HP ProtectTools) generates a logfile called HPProtectTools.0.txt that rolls over (creates a new one) every 100K. When I was going through my Windows folder, there were 3 of them, taking up 272K. You can delete them all. Remember to revisit it from time to time…
– Pocket Informant installs a whopping 1027K dll in your Windows directory. YMMV, but I copied it to my SD Card and then used a registry editor to look for the registry entry.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/WebIS/PocketInformant/PIToolsLoc < - change this to the new dll location
Sure enough, it works. No major crashes.
Apparently Tweaks2K will move dll's for you to another place. To be investigated...
Sam is One Year Old !
Sam has become one year old today.
Our family loves you and your spiritious enh-enh-ENH! when you want to grab something that is almost out of reach. You take obvious pleasure in our being with you, and I secretly enjoy the fact every morning that when I put you on the table of the day care mother to take of your coat your first priority is to get into my arms again !
Almost walking alone, but for now you still need to hang on to a finger from mom or dad. But soon, it’ll be soon. I hope so, cos my back is feeling it !
Happy Birthday Sam !
Sam is allergic to dustmites and slightly allergic to cow milk, we’ve discovered. Takes after his dad, hopefully not too much.
The only thing missing is a quite night’s sleep, but that’ll come too…
The internet is for porn !
I never thought I would find something worthwile on YouTube, but
this is excellent if you are even slightly into musicals. And it is worksafe.
Very Funny.
What's on your Ipod ?
Found via Vowe : Usage statistics on the play usage of ipods.
Very interesting, and I tend to agree with both volker and Duke : the current tools are not adequate enough to let you discover all of your music in a large music collection, and when you are mobile, most of the time you only want to listen to a subset of your music, well, at least I prefer so.
Akismet Count WordPress pluging
I’ve installed a plugin that shows how many spam that Akismet stops for me. It’s to the right, just below the weather icon.
Considering that it’s been installed not even a week, I think it’s impressive : almost 300 spam in a few days !
Of course, this is only a low-volume blog – not many people read this blog, there are some bloggers out here who receive incredible amounts of spam !
iPaq HX2415 WM5 ROM Update available
The iPaq hx2000 series ROM upgrade for Windows Mobile 5 is available.
The update itself does not clean out and reformat all your data, I’m glad to say – ofcourse, YMMV 🙂
I do seem to have less SD card disappearances and less hangups. It’s not any faster, if that’s what you are wondering. For that, you’ll need to change some registry settings.
For the english firmware update, there is also a seperate Bluetooth update, which I can’t install – I don’t have enough storage space left ! For the bluetooth update you need 5 MB (hopefully only during install, please let that be true!) and I only have 2 to 3 MB left over.
And that is aftermoving the Temporary Internet File folder to my SD card and installing everything up to Pocket Informant to my SD card.
I’ll have to see if I can’t recuperate some RAM by lowering my cache settings – I set them so they use up 8MB of memory, so lowering those values might help me get over that magickal 5 MB limit.
Funny, as I recall I used to have about 12 MB free – but that was before I started installing lotsaprogs…
The trouble with the hx2415 is that it has only 64 MB (flash)RAM that is divided between stored programs (your c:drive so to speak) and the actual RAM where you program is executed in. Even if you install most of your programs on your SD or CompactFlash card, most of these install the today plugins and other dlls in your windows folder, thus bloating your program folder, making your executing space smaller and smaller.
All the new PDA’s that run WM5 really need 128 (flash)RAM – they should have no problems installing stuff.
After a *very* long hiatus I’ve started running again – no telling how long I’ll keep this up, but it’s suprising how good you can feel again in the morning after a run, the sense of ‘well’ being when you wake up.
Sort of like your body is happy to be moving again, after all that slacking around. Plus I seem to be getting more energy out of my sheduled runnings… Instead of just running until I’m out of breath, I’m following a schedule I found on the internet.
I’m in week 3 now, following a schedule a bit similar to start2run : the first week run one minute, then walk one minute; do this 8 times. Week 2 you run two minutes, walk one minute, etcetera.
Since I didn’t run a lot last week, I am redoing week 2 again.
No weight loss yet, though. In fact, I am more hungry than usual !
FNAC is doing a summer sale : for each main gaming platform they’ve selected 5 games you can buy (until stocks last) at only 19.99 instead of the usual 40 or 50 euros.
Prince of Persia was in the list of games for PSP. I snapped it up today, since I played it on the pc.
Reviews give it between 6.4 and 7 out of 10. Not bad, but not super either.
Update : I’ve been playing the first levels – so far, it is almost identical to the pc version I played six or more months ago – up to the point I can follow my memory of the pc game.
All the reviews state that their is a lot of stuttering and sound problems.
While I’ve noticed that the sound sometimes is not really in sync, it is not stuttering, and the gameplay seems fine to me, albeit there is some loading.
Maybe because my firmware is 2.70 ? Would Sony have done something like including patches or upping the cpu speed for certain games that have come out ?
‘Dads Rating’ : Frustrating !ÂÂ
Spam Away – it won't get you anywhere
These last few days I’ve started receiving some serious spam directed to my blog – every hour or two, some 25 to 30 new spam comments.
They never get actually published on my blog, as I require all comments to be approved by me, but still. It was getting on my nerves, every time I had to wade through 25 new mails from my blog.
Akismet to the rescue. After signing up for free at WordPress.com and getting my api key via a slightly convoluted mail, I activated the akismet plugin, and it immediately set to work, classifying 19 new comments as spam.
No more notifications. No more mails. And it gets deleted after 15 days.
Spam away, you spammer. You’re not going to get anything published on this blog.
UPDATE : I actived Akismet Friday evening – 19 comments were spam. Today, Sunday, I already have 229 spomments ! 4 got to my moderation queue – excellent really !
